Winston Salem Open – Wake Forest Tennis Complex The Winston Salem Open is an annual professional men’s tennis tournament played in July on outdoor hard courts at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. One of the ATP World Tour 500 series tournaments, it has been held every year, except for a brief period during World War II, since 1974. The current singles champion is Denis Shapovalov and the doubles champions are Juan Sebastián Cabal & Robert Farah .
Hispanic League Fiesta – West End Park The Hispanic League Fiesta is an annual event held since 2011, every September at West End Park. The purpose of the Fiesta is to celebrate Hispanic Heritage through food, music and dance.
Salute Our Troops Concert – Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum In its 12th year, the Salute Our Troops Concert will be held Saturday September 22, at LJVM Coliseum in Winston- Salem . Doors open at 5:00 pm with a 4:00 pm show time. It’s an all-ages show which features popular recording artists Derrick Brown , Blaque Ivory and Midnight Star .
United States Air Force Band of Flight – Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum This concert will be offered Saturday October 26 at LJVM Coliseum in Winston-Salem. This will be the 2nd year for this event which is open to all ages.
The Band of Flight’s mission is to support Airmen by promoting Air Force heritage and inspiring a culture of excellence. The band performs popular music from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s as well as jazz standards, patriotic songs, rock & roll and show tunes.
Annual Holloween Parade and Family Fun Fest – Winston Salem River District The annual Halloween Parade & Family Fun Fest will be held Saturday October 27, 2018 from 10:00 am to noon. This popular event on the Tanglewood Guilford Green features a parade with prizes for best costumes in several categories. Costumed children are welcome to participate in the parade and join their parents or other adults along the route for candy and fun activities in between costume judging stops at Veterans Adventure Park (formerly known as Westridge Mall) and Old Salisbury Square.
Tree Lighting & Holiday Parade – Downtown Winston-Salem Saturday November 24, 2018 will be the date for this year’s Tree Lighting & Holiday Parade. A downtown parade begins in First Baptist Church on 4th St. and marches along Trade St. ending at Veterans Park . At 6:15 pm there will be a lighting of the City Christmas tree by Santa Claus himself!
Annual Toy Giveaway – Old Salem The Town of Old Salem presents its annual Toy Giveaway to thousands of children from low income families, free of charge. This event has been held annually since 1972 and is sponsored by the Town Commissioners; it takes place every December at historic Old Salem’s Dr. Everrett House Museum . The event lasts about an hour and includes a reading of The Night Before Christmas by a local theater group, traditional Christmas carols, free toys and candy until Santa Claus runs out.
Tobacco Farm Bluegrass Jamboree – Winston Salem This festival is held in October, at the historic Reynolds Farmhouse on Reynolda Rd in Winston-Salem. The event is an annual fundraiser for the Old Salem Museums & Gardens . It features bluegrass bands performing throughout the day with a variety of great food choices available for purchase from various vendors.
