Winston-Salem is fortunate to have a plethora of recreational areas and parks, several of which offer amenities such as picnic shelters, playgrounds, walking trails, and athletic fields. Below is a list of city parks in Winston Salem.
Hanes Park – Located in Winston-Salem’s Historic Hanes Mill and is home to the Tanglewood Park Nature Center. The park features a lake, walking trails, and picnic shelters.
Tanglewood Park – This 184 acre park is home to the 18-hole Stephen B White Golf Course , amphitheatre for outdoor concerts, playgrounds, sports fields, picnic areas with grills available first come first served basis (no reservations), hiking/biking trail unites with Brown Creek Greenway behind City View School on Salem Lake Road .
Washington Park – This park has amenities such as a baseball field, basketball court, playgrounds, picnic area with grills available on a first come first served basis (no reservations), and walking trails.
Smith-Hanes Park – Housed in this 51 acre park is the 16-acre Smith Recreation Center which features an olympic-sized swimming pool , indoor air conditioned gymnasium , elevated 1/10 mile track, roller skating rink , multipurpose activity courts for indoor sports activities.
Central Park – This location offers only green space . There are no amenities located here.
Bolton Park – This 27 acre park has amenities such as a walking trail, playgrounds and picnic area with grills available on first come first served basis (no reservations).
The Coliseum – Formerly known as the Civic Center , The Coliseum is now a multipurpose facility. It is home to several concerts and shows throughout the year including Country Tonite Theatre .
Mercer Park – This 16 acre park offers amenities such as playgrounds, a baseball field, basketball court, picnic shelter
Old Salem Park – Located on Bethabara Road just north of Winston-Salem Southern Bypass. There are no facilities located here but this green space is great for walking or jogging.
The Park at River Walk – This park can be found on the Yadkin River just off South Hawthorne Street and features a 10 acre lake, fishing pier walkway , fitness trail , and picnic shelter.
Winston Salem Ruritan Club Park – Located just behind Hanes Mall and is home to the Winston Salem Youth Soccer League fields .
Mt. Tabor Park – This 26 acre park has amenities such as playgrounds, sports fields, walking trails, tennis courts and picnic area with grills available on first come first served basis (no reservations).
Carolina Park – This park is located across the street from Winston Salem’s Southside Elementary School and is home to a walking trail
Morningside Park – This 11 acre park has amenities such as picnic shelter, playgrounds, and sports fields.
Fox Ridge Park – Located on West Clemmonsville Road this green space offers fishing access in the pond and hiking trails behind Fox Ridge subdivision .
Cliffdale Park – The smallest of all city parks located behind Cliffdale Elementary , it hosts a small covered playground for children.
Biscuit Hill Park – This very secluded 10 acre park features a walking trail with scenic views of the Yadkin River valley , picnic shelter , and no equipment.
